Nickelodeon is an American based cable and satellite television network. Its target audience is children and teenagers 7–16 years of age and it’s available in around 100 million households in the US alone.
The reason that we have chosen to focus on old Nickelodeon shows from the nineties is simple nostalgia.
Today, many of us are sentimental for the relative simplicity of the nineties. Those of us who were young during this generation were devoted Nickelodeon watchers, which was then THE network for kids. While Nickelodeon has produced many great TV shows over the years, we at Life Daily, believe that the 1990s were when it really excelled.

1. Salute Your Shorts (1991-1992)
This show tapped into every child’s desire to go to sleep-away camp. It also had a crazy cast of campers, including “Donkeylips” and “Budnick.” Unfortunately the show only lasted two short seasons.
2. The Adventures of Pete and Pete (1993-1996)
Pete and Pete was an extremely well written children’s show, although most of the jokes and wit were probably too subtle for us to appreciate. The show is memorable mostly because of its fantastic cast, which included Michelle Trachtenberg, Heather Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi and Iggy Pop.
3. Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1991-2000)
This show had the ability to scare the pants off its young viewers every week. It gave us ghost stories and supernatural tales, and always left viewers significantly creeped out.
4. Rocko’s Modern Life (1993-1996)
This was a strange show about an Australian wallaby named Rocko. Its adult humor was full of innuendo. Once, Rocko had a brief job as a phone sex operator. How Nickelodeon managed get away with that has never been explained.
5. Legends of the Hidden Temple (1993-1995)
Nickelodeon in the nineties produced some amazing game shows The best of these was Legends of the Hidden Temple. There were six teams of two kids, and everyone had their favorite team. The show included physical challenges as well as a requirement for historical and geographical knowledge.
6. Kenan and Kel (1996-2000)
This was a comedy series which starred Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. It revolved around the duo’s antics, usually involving them getting into trouble. The show ran for four seasons.
7. Rugrats (1991-2004)
Rugrats focused on the actions of a group of toddlers. It featured Tommy Pickles, Chuckie, dirt-loving twins Phil and Lil and Angelica Pickles, Tommy’s older cousin. Rugrats was one of the longest running Nickelodeon series and is one of the network’s most beloved and remembered shows.
8. Doug (1991-1994)
Doug was one of the first animated series on Nickelodeon. There was something special about this show which focused on pre-teen Doug Funnie and his various friends and family members.
9. Clarissa Explains It All (1991-1994)
Clarissa (Melissa Joan Hart) was the epitome of nineties cool. She wore Doc Martens and listened to The Violent Femmes! She had a pet lizard named Elvis! Her best friend was a GUY! For young girls they didn’t come much cooler than Clarissa Darling.
10. All That (1994-2005)
Kids who grew up in the nineties looked forward to staying up late to watch All That on Saturday nights. It was the single coolest TV kids show of the nineties. Each episode featured a musical guest, from TLC to the Spice Girls, and there was often a special guest host.
